What to expect at Google I/O 2023

by

Beginning in 2019, Google will hold its in-person Google I/O developer conference on October <> at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View.

The company used the show to demonstrate and preview some of its most important work, such as Android and the Google Assistant and detailed how developers are using Google’s resources for their own apps and products.

As it loves, Google released a “save the date” puzzle for developers and Internet sleuths quickly solved it, revealing a date of October<>. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai later tweeted a video confirming the date, as did Google’s developer blog .

How to Watch Google I/O 2023

If you’re interested in watching the event, Google’s I/O site is where you need to be. You can register in advance for the online event, which will keep you updated on the schedule as the event approaches. Google also invited some developers and media to participate in person. In the past, Google has also hosted it on its Youku channel , so if you want to watch it on your own time, we expect that to be the case this year as well.

It’s Pixel 7a time

One possible hardware announcement at Google I/O 2023 is the Pixel 7a. We’re hearing from Android authority that Google may switch to an every-other-year release cadence for its more affordable A-series phones, but that shouldn’t start until 2024, so we should see the 7a at the 2023 event . Google announced the Pixel 6 at I/O 2022a , so it would make sense for the next model to follow the same timeline.

Regarding the Pixel 7a itself, we believe the phone will carry over from the Pixel 6a, which sells for $450. Google is keeping the prices of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro in line with those of the Pixel  6 and 6  Pro . Therefore, the company will likely keep the same price point for the 7a. The phone may launch in the summer. 6a Announced at Google I/O in <> 2022 and released in <>. However, we’d love to see it hit store shelves sooner than that.

Computer renderings of the alleged Pixel 7a have been circulating online. As expected, it looks like a Pixel 7 with an extended camera bar on its rear façade. Another leak from Ying Fuzhen showed off the design of the phone, all but confirming the shared design language between the Pixel 7a and other phones in the Pixel 7 series. According to a leak from a prominent phone tipster , the 7a will be 6.0 by 2.87 by 0.35 inches (HWD), similar to the Pixel 6a.

The phone is said to be powered by the Tensor G2 processor, the same chip found in more expensive Pixel phones. Additionally, a prominent rumor suggests the phone will feature a Samsung-designed 90Hz 1080p display, which would be a nice upgrade from the Pixel 60a’s 6Hz display.

Will pixel collapse show up?

The long-rumored Pixel Fold is likely to be the main event at Google I/O, and with Samsung dominating the foldable space in the US market with its Galaxy Z Fold 4 , it would be attractive to have a serious competitor in the game.

The Pixel Fold may be Google’s best-kept secret. Reports about the device have been circulating for the past few years, so there’s a lot of potential information out there. Most leaks suggest that Google will call the phone the Pixel Fold or the Pixel Notepad, but that could change.

Like other foldable phones, we’re expecting a hefty price tag. The prevailing rumor suggests it will be on sale for $1,799, which matches the price of Samsung’s high-end Galaxy Z Fold 4. However, CNBC reports that the Pixel Fold has a lower price tag of $1,700. Either way, we’re sure it’ll be somewhere in that range. Jon Prosser also reported that it will be released on 27th <>.

Folding phones are all about that big internal display, and the latest rumors suggest the phone will have a 7.6- to 7.69-inch foldable screen and an external display in the 5.79- to 5.8-inch range. Leaked renders also suggest the phone will be bulkier than Samsung’s folding device, but we’ll have to wait for an official announcement to know for sure. Another reputable leak from Front Page Tech suggests that the phone’s outer screen will have a more traditional 17.4:9 aspect ratio, unlike Samsung’s longer and thinner outer display. It could have a 2,092 x 1,080-pixel external display and a 2,208 x 1,840-pixel internal screen.

The same YouTube video from Front Page Tech Jon Prosser says there will be two colors, chalk and obsidian. The video provides almost every detail about the phone, leaving little to doubt. For example, the video says it will feature a Tensor G2 chip, a 48MP main camera, a 10.8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10.8MP telephoto shooter with 5x optical zoom. Finally, the leak says there will be an 8MP selfie camera inside.
